The first step is to take a step back Get away from the computer and the cell-phone, go outside to some place where you can sit down and think, and take a pen and a pad. Make a simple list of the 4 or 5 things that are most important for you. Cut or delegate activities you don’t enjoy and don’t have time for.
A daily list of to-dos will help you avoid deadline panic. Plan your day in such a way that you can focus on main three or four things that you want to achieve.
Set aside a daily nugget of time, keep 15 minutes in the morning just for yourself and treat it like gold. This is quiet time for centering, breathing, preparing for the day. You’ll be glad you did. Also, set aside time each day for an activity that you enjoy, such as walking, playing games or listening to music.
Try to schedule your work routines in a way so that your days off are your routine chores on workdays so that your days off are more relaxing. For instance, doing a load of wash every day rather than saving the whole pile-up or your day off, is a good way to begin to free up your weekend.
